I am a huge NBA fan my family had season tix to the Vancouver Grizzlies for their 6 season's here. I even go down to Seattle to catch the odd Sonic game. But I hope the Hornets do NOT come here only because I feel they belong to the fans and people of Louisiana. If they do come here for 1 season maybe with enough support the NBA will return to Vancouver with an expansion franchise down the road. I predict the NBA will return to Vancouver someday. I have to admit I was suprised to see that on the front page of The Province.

your mom says hi.
as much as i don't like to profit from someone elses missfortune i hope they do come here. they have to play somewhere and i don't think the people of new orleans or louisiana for that matter will be worried about basketball in the short term. plus every major city in that area that has the ability and population to support an nba team already has one or has been desimated by the hurricane.

they gotta play somewhere so it might as well be here. i miss having a team here too, we kinda got a raw deal on that one. i still say "big country reeves" is what caused the downfall. did you know he's retired and still earns a salary from memphis? wtf?

GO VANCOUVER HORNETS!!!!

See the headline " Vancouver to Bid on New Orleans NBA Team". Ever since the Charlotte Hornets moved to New Orleans, the fans of New Orleans have NOT packed the New Orleans Arena, averaging 11,000 fans per game. New Orleans has and always will be a New Orleans Saints, LSU Tigers, Tulane Football town.

Does it seem like you are picking over the ruins of a devistated city looking to take something away from them while they are struggling to put their lives back together?

Can you imagine if some American had said that about a hockey team from a Canadian city that had just suffered a major disaster?

But I guess if you preface your statement with "i don't like to profit from someone elses missfortune " then it makes it OK.

Of all people smakyo.....you would be ranting the loudest

Let them stay in NO, I'm sure they'll be playing in front of packed houses. After the way the NBA allowed Heisley to lie and screw over the city of Vancouver I hope the NBA doesn't return.

it was stu jackson ... that dumbass wouldn't know a basketball if it hit him in the head ...

he turned down the chance to get Steve Nash which might have resulted in a different team and a different result ...

in the meantime, this city needs an NBA team like it needs more drug dealers and road racers!

oh brother!

listen to the crap coming out of the Saints owner who chooses the middle of a disaster to threaten to move his football team unless he gets a new stadium!

there's not enough money to build a new and improved levee but some rich fuck wants a new stadium ... its a shame they outlawed lynching because he definitely deserves one.

It was Stu Jacksons vision that killed the Grizzlies. The guy had a huge ego and could not admit that he did not know how to build a team. He kept saying he was building for the future and had great faith in Big Doofus Reeves. The guy was a momma's-boy who had very little athletic ability and no motivation. Why the management and the league brought Stu Jackson to Vancouver in the first place I will never know.

If Stu Jackson got Steve Nash in a trade with the Phoenix Suns back in 1998 to play for the Vancouver Grizzlies, there is NO doubt in my mind that the NBA would still be here. Also if the Stu Jackson drafted Vince Carter instead of Mike Bibby with the #2 pick in 1998, The Grizz would be here. Mike Bibby is better then Vince now, but back then Vince sold tix. I still think the NBA will one day return to Vancouver, I will bet the house on that. Why I say that is because the city has grown since 2001, the Canadian dollar is better now, the 2010 Winter Olympics are here. And I think alot more people are intrested in the NBA ever since Steve Nash was the MVP.

for one thing luckydog they obviously have to play somewhere other then new orleans, cause i'm pretty sure people in new orleans aren't going to go to many games in the mean time. the attendance pre-katrina was low can you imagine it now?????? fact is luckydog they have to play somewhere and seeing as how i am a basketball fan i say why not vancouver? they play here for a season while new orleans re-builds then go back for the next year.

it has nothing to do with picking through rubble trying to steal something away from that city. if it had happend to vancouver the same deal. i'm pretty sure not too many people would be worrying about the canucks. so if they re-located to seattle or something for a year then fine as long as they came back when the city was ready for them.

also as for all you old fuckers on the board :p saying "fuck the nba, we don't need them." i have this to say. seeing as how must of you are white and old(i am white but not old)you no longer speak for the majority of vancouver and growing up in the time you did yes having just hockey is fine and dandy for you. us young bucks on the other hand and people of other colour and races tend to identify with basketball as well. don't get me wrong i am a canadian and i love hockey but i gotta tell ya most of us grew up watching and being influenced more so by micheal jordan then any other hockey player that i can think of.

there came a point in the late 80's early 90's where i heard jordans name on tv and in the media much more then i ever heard gretzky. that being said old white men your time is over.(lol)time to let the young bucks have their basketball :p .

While I agree that stu jackson was an dumbass...there was noway we were in the position on drafting Steve Nash unless we drafted him 3rd. At the time, Steve Nash was not an top 10 pick coming out of college. Hindsight 50/50 now we know what kind of player he became.
The talk was that Stu could've had Nash for the draft pick that got us journeyman pt gd, Antonio Daniels.
It was a lottery pick I believe, but the Grizz would still be here and Nash would be burning up and down the court at the Garage. My son and I would be sittin in the stands wearing our #13 jerseys.
I love the nucks, but hoops is cool too.
