Any help finding these things would be appreciated..
I've been looking everywhere I can online.. but maybe there's some websites I don't know about?
I'm trying to find a place in either Devon or Edmonton Alberta.. I don't know what areas are good though..
I'm pretty clueless.. going into this blindly.. but hey, it'll be an adventure!
Any help would be appreciated! thanks!

Because I used to live in Devon. I've got memories there.
Anyways, no I won't be "working" once I move to the Edmonton area. I am leaving this profession for good. I will be getting a legitimate job. There are more work opportunities in Edmonton and surrounding area.. so I won't have a problem finding a job. :)

Thank you kindly, but I'm finished with any form of the sex trade, period.
I am on the hunt for a real, acceptable job. Nothing where I have to use my body in any shape or form to make money. I am now interested in using my mind, and other abilities.. and eventually one day, going to school or apprenticing to learn some skills that will be helpful in whatever career path I choose to take. I'm thinking radio.. being a radio show host/dj.. and I'm also thinking of photography, which is a passion of mine already. -- as well as a whole bunch of other things. I'm very ambitious. :)

try online sites

I would suggest is check out Career OWL (http://www.careerowlresources.ca/Links/Lin_Frame.htm?Lin_career.htm~right )
It has links to the most poplar online job sites. I personally have been hired for a job posted on www.workopolis.com.

I also would check out the University of Alberta, NAIT and Grant MacEwan Collage student job boards to find out who is hiring. I know a division of GE was opening up a large call centre as well they are offering benefits after about a month I believe.

As for renting it depends on what you want to pay, landlords are hurting as everyone is buy house right now. In the westend you can get a nice apartment for 525, well as downtown is 1100. You can get places cheaper depends on what you are looking for. There is some magazines posted at local stores listing apartment listings, remember these are ads placed by the landlords them selves so it does not give you a great cross section. If you need help finding the online sites send me a message and I will send you a list. Good luck in your search

Various sources of employment links in Alberta is on this site. There is lots of information on this site, so it would be good to navigate this site to see what other info/tips are available:

and

If your preference is to work in smaller communities, you may also want to check out the web sites of some of the nearby communities of Devon, Leduc, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain web sites also.

Try http://www.homebase.ca/ for rental listings.

Boardwalk Properties also has a monopoly on rental properties in the Edmonton area. Their web site is: http://www.bwalk.com/

That should give you a bit of a start on things. Once you get to town, you can pick up a copy of the Home Renters Guide and go from there. One bedroom apartments go for about $500-$1000 per month, depending on quality and location.

Good luck on your adventure and welcome to Edmonton:) I think Edmonton is a wonderful place to live. It might not be the most compelling tourist destination, but the city is big enough to have most things, the air is clean, the commutes are short, the housing is affordable, and the people are nice. Yeah, it can get cold here sometimes, but if global warming keeps up at the current rate, in about 5 years we will be perfect. Plus, we have no earthquakes, tornados (ok there was one 18 years ago), hurricanes, mudslides.

The only thing I would caution you against is trying to find a job in the entertainment industry in Edmonton. It can be done, but it's a pretty small industry here. You would probably have more luck in a larger city.

Clarification

I've already mentioned this twice in this thread.
I am NOT looking for a job in the adult entertainment industry in Edmonton. I've retired, and I'm staying that way.
B'Belle, if you're talking to me, my caution referred to YOUR earlier post where you said you were looking for work in the radio/DJ field.

That's what I meant by entertainment.

Good luck in your hunt.

Hey...

I can recommend a bunch of great areas within Edmonton and some nice apartments you might want to take a look at. If you're not driving... I'd suggest sticking close to the downtown core as it will have just about everything you need close by. I've lived in several buildings downtown and I'm sure I could help you out a little. PM me if you want some more info. I'd be happy to show you around too...

Good and Bad areas of Edmonton

Hey,

I travel enough to Edmonton to pick up a few things. Edmonton North East and North West = STAY AWAY !!! rent is cheap and it's cheap for a reason. White Ave, West and south areas are pretty good. Millwoods is ok for the most part. If I can be further help, please drop me a line.
