Markus Naslund has decided to return to Vancouver, according to his agent Mike Gillis.

Both the Vancouver Province and radio station CKNW say Naslund has agreed to a three year deal worth $18-million.

Naslund reportedly turned down two other similar offers from "high revenue" teams because he felt the Canucks' offer was more competitive.

"We evaluated every element to this and in the end it all pointed to the market being what it is and Markus' desire to return to Vancouver," Gillis told the Province.

Hmmm, 6 Million a year...doesn't leave much for Canucks to go after Niedermayer anymore.....but I still think Canucks should still have a chance to get him at 5 million (20 million for 4 years)....the major downfall is that Calgary has more room in the cap situation than Canucks....so if I was a betting person, more likely he will end up in Calgary....which sucks, cause Jovo will be a Unrestricted by the end of the year (2006).....and he would love to move back east......that is why I would love to sign Niedermayer, and trade Jovo.

Everything is just my opinion.

Cheers

CBCs reporting...

"With Naslund's salary, the Canucks are up to $34.7 million in payroll, which is close to the $39 million ceiling set by the NHL's new collective bargaining agreement."
Theres not much money left for the remaining players they have to sign. I would like to see a goalie in the works.

Canucks might be able to get Niedermeyer if Bertruzzi's suspension continues for another 10-20 games as his salary portion is deducted from the CAP.

I think the Canucks would be better off with Niedermeyer.

Anything to give SOPEL less ice time.

Canucks just traded Sopel for a pick
Glad to see him go ... him and his hairfarm.

I heard a rumour that Neidermayer may take a pay cut to come here to play with Naslund and Co. for their run at the cup.

Hoooooraaaayyy !

I was just saying to someone last week that the Canucks need to cut SOPEL and Malik , and get Neidermeyer. I think someone like Neidermeyer would actually help JOVO's game. JOVO doesn't know sometimes if he's a defenceman or forward. But he's great when he's disciplined.

And strange enough is that SOPEL was plus 11 in his last season, but it seemed like his STUPIDITY cost us the game time and time again.

I'm not sure where the CBC is getting their information but it doesn't look accurate. Here's a breakdown from TSN...
