I'm a little surprised there's so little talk about this among the Perberts....unless the EDM guys are mostly MP users.
That's pretty much the case. The hi-track strolls in Edmonton dried up years ago, it's all lo-track now. And you've likely seen the victims' pictures...most of them are very gaunt, drugged-up and rough-looking. Not to belittle them or their plight, but from a purely pooners' perspective, almost all of the Edmonton PERBerts can find much better at the MPs and the few indy escorts worth seeing. And the few ladies still out there...any fears of being the next victim is overshadowed by the desperate need for more drug money.

And who knows how long it will take and how many more deaths until they catch the killer. I mean, it took them over 10 years until they caught that sick fucker who raped and killed that Punky kid. People's faith in their police services keeps eroding because of all that and other things.

You can't be too hard on police....

I have some good friends who are cops, and they say investigations like Punky's can be excruciatingly difficult, and even if they have good suspicion that a certain suspect is the one, they need to be triple and quadruple-sure about it before proceeding, to make sure it survives a preliminary hearing and the rigors of a criminal trial. I also hear crown prosecutors are extremely demanding when it comes to cases like those, so getting all the pieces in place can be hard.

In the prostitute murders case, obviously things are complicated by the fact that most of these girls led such sketchy lives that it's next to impossible to find clues, much less piece them together. That, combined with the intense political and public pressure must make things very tense.

You'll never find me with one of those "back the blue" bumper stickers (too establishment big-brother for my tastes), but I sympathize with police a bit here.

It's not just the length of the Punky investigation...it's mainly and mostly the other things with the Edmonton police that's given them a black eye with the public. The Overtime stakeout scandal, alleged shady and untendered deals with vendors, photo radar controversies, stories about abusive enforcement, deadly auto pursuits, etc. I'm ambivalent towards the E-town LE. Yes, they have some assholes. But they have good peoples on their force for the most part, and they rightfully look the other way when it comes to the licensed sex trade. But they have the aforementioned issues and a lack of funding to adequately police a city of a million people.

Any cop will tell you that it's real easy to figure out who committed a crime, it's proving it in a court of law that's hard.
