I've heard that some of the best Chinese restaurants in the world can be found in Richmond.
Can anyone recommend some good places, not too expensive, and not necessarily 5-star, just good, interesting, and moderately priced.
Please give addresses & street intersections if possible, since I'm from a foreign country south of White Rock.
Thanks!

Resturant

Herb, are you going to have the meal by yourself, or you are going to enjoy the food with lots of people?

Try Sun Sui Wah.
But you're right. It's tough to have good Chinese meal if you're not with a group cuz the dishes are meant for sharing.

If you're going solo and want inexpensive, then Hon's Wonton House in Richmond. They have one in Vancouver as well on Robson Street which I think is better. A lot of solo eaters there too.

Chinese restaurants

Herb, from one south of the border to another

Magoomba mentioned Sun Sui Wah. A place I frequent for Dim Sum is Sun Sui Wah (same owners) in Vancouver, 23 and Main. Perhaps that would be easier for you to find. 2nd floor place, always crowded. Probably a good sign.

Cheap Dim Sum

There's a dim sum place that's cheap and pretty good on Leslie, just east of Numbrer 3. It's almost across the street from the Massage Centre and up the block from JJ's. Can't remember the name -- it's three Chinese words.

For better quality at a slightly less modest price try the restaurant at the Radisson.

Hello Herb; I have a discount card for this restaurant, but everything on it is in Chinese except the address!! It is very excellent food.A little on the spicy side. Try the spicy crab and the garlic spicy green beans! The crab
is big dungeness and such an amazing delicious coating on it!
This place is near 3 road, between 3 road and Garden City.Check your
map book. 8130 Park Road,Richmond,BC 604-273-8888 604-273-8828
Enjoy! Mark

If its cheap eats you want go to Yoahan Food Court, lots to choose from and great prices. Big plus is the eye candy. On 3 Road between Cambie and Captsan Way.

"the best restaurants in the world" and "not too expensive" do not go together in one sentence :p

I'm not sure about chinese, but I know one kickass japanese restaurant in Richmond. I can't remember the exact place, but if you are interested tell me and I look it up for you. It is relatively cheap and they have the best sushi I have tried.

And they have "all you can eat" before 12 o'clock!

True -- that's why I put them in seperate sentences.

Yes, please look it up if you can. Thanks
BTW, I've lived on the west coast for almost 40 years, and also visited Japan, but the best sushi I ever had was in Jersey City, NJ.

sushi

An other good suggestion of sushi is in ironwood plaza in Richmond stevenson, located beside the Tim's donut place. Go to the sushi bar, and ask the chef of the best of sushi of the day.
