I know, for the "domestic" shops, that the shop owner has a few good options for advertising a job opening: the classifieds in the local paper (e.g. the Georgia Straight), the Gigs and Jobs section of LL, the Help Wanted section here, etc.
But (as far as I can tell) the AMPs and asian micros don't advertise in any of those places. So where are they advertising, to find the girls they do? Are they hiring them back in China/HK/Macau/etc. and then flying them here to work? Advertising in local-area Chinese-language classifieds, e.g. VanPeople? Putting up flyers in Chinatown community centres??
(I guess I could learn enough Mandarin to ask the next asian provider I visit how she ended up working at this place, but I feel like it'd be kind of a rude question, dredging up regrets and killing the mood, no?)
