As the 2 official languages of Canada, which one do you use? I was born in BC and used the English language. French is the other language. Mostly in BC, English is used as the written language (there might be other languages used in different areas of BC, I don't know of them). Anyway when it comes to using a computer, using spell check its usually defaulted the American Language. Canadian and American spelling is different.

Do you find you use more of American spelling than Canadian spelling?

Is there a way to change this on PERB?

You can change the language settings on your computer from American English to Canadian English.

With the way the english language is massacred on Perb on a daily basis, it's amusing that you should be so concerned about a few 'u's'.

right here and now

You can also just put in the effort it takes to spell properly. It's not really that tough, but too many people are just lazy.
I don't use spell check, I proof my copy and typically the results are just fine.
I'm appalled at how many professionals and the like can't spell their way out of a wet sack!

We're going back to Shakespearean times where much is spelled phonetically.

A lot has to do with texting shortcuts, some with poor education and some with methods taught where kids were encouraged to spell however they liked, as long as it was understandable.

Oh, and laziness.

I refuse to get 'Americanized'. Only thing worse is the new shorthand showing up in texting etc.

I like it just the way we were taught

Analogue not analog

Cheque not check

Pronounced Zed not Zee

I'm just happy if I can at least get the spelling close....my spell check is so messed up from my atrocities ....it now spell checks wrong, because of how many times I've typed it in.

Is 'Mum' short for 'Mummy'?

Why do all your highways end in 'A' and every spoken statement ends in 'eh'?

It's really very simple....
Because " Eh" is usually a question.....and these days it's very questionable if the Highway your driving down will get you to your intended destination....so we end them in "A"
If your Canadian you'd already know that by osmosis.

Miss Hunter what you are seeing is the educational system at work. They teach phonetic spelling (as long as you get your point across), that just easily transferred to text messages, mostly because humans are lazy and cheap. Also with your buddies online you talk your secret language, so outsiders can't understand.

Funny thing they teach you phonetic spelling in elementary and high school, but insist you spell properly for secondary education.

Why do Americans end every spoken statement with “huh”? Why are American highways littered with billboards? Why do American highways start with “US” ... is it to remind all the crackers what country they are in? Why are Americans so obese? And why did so many Americans vote for Trump? Huh?
..........huh?

Varies now
Mexicans speak Spanish, albeit somewhat bastardized like our own English.
