Hello,

I will be visiting Whister next month for the first time and am bringing my own snow bunny so I don't need any help there.

But, I would be interested in recommendations for restaurants and night clubs.

What are some of your favorite places to go for:

Asian food
Sushi
Italian
Dancing
People Watching
Drinking

You can post replies here or PM me.

Thanks!

Going to Whistler...

Tyler,

Don't drink and drive. Very bad. Road blocks North of Lion's Bay are fairly routine. And then they often hit you again as you approach the Villiage on the south side.

Take a cab if you plan to party. It's the Season for being Merry and having fun. Make sure you get home to tell us about it.

I hate that F---ing road. Can't wait for the Olympics. Just what we need, a track for bobsleds and a ski jump. That should really boost the economy.

Later,
bobsled.

Well, that is the plan, and with your recommendations, I think the trip will be a success.

Thanks!

RE: Whistler...

Tyler,

Behave yourself. Got off on a rant there. Talk amongst yourselves.

Later,
bobsled.

No worries bobsled, always good advice there that you gave.

No need to imbibe to much and then try to drive. I'm staying somewhere in the village, so I don't plan on having to drive anywhere once I get there. They tell me that it is about 150 steps to the lift.

Your comment on the friggin' road... is the drive up from Vancouver bad?

I'm really looking forward to going.

Where are you from Tyler? The flat lands? The road is fine, but expect to have a long line behind you if drive up in the afternoon. Since that is when most of the locals do our driving. And we think the posted speed limit is just a suggestion. I would leave in the AM around 10, stop at Shannon falls. Stop in Squamish to pick up any supplies, if it is nice hike the Chief, with a picnic. Then into Whistler, check in, grab a bite I would go for sushi. The skiing should be good not too crowed. Have fun, I will be thier also, and will be the one in the black touque.

Jmac,

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm from South of the Border - no not Taco Bell.

I'll be driving up from Portland on a Wednesday, so it will be a bit of a drive.

I have a 4WD (carrying chains) with many winter miles logged driving in Northern Idaho and Montana where it sounds like the locals drive much like you crazy Canuks!

Thanks for all the advice, it is appreciated!

For food, there is always Hy's Steakhouse and if you like your drink, Bearfoot Bistro, although kind of pricey but tremendous wine selection.
