I wish my mom didn't throw out all my comics! (Not that I had anything of value anyways!)

You might be surprised at what some Bronze age comics are worth. Pending condition, of course.
And holy crap. That's a lot of money.
You're right. I had a Incredible Hulk #181 once, but was stupid enough to trade it away for some Kirby 4th World stuff! (Nothing against Kirby though!)

The heart wants what the heart wants. :)
Well said. I'd probably make the same trade today. I was never a big Wolverine fan, but I loved Kirby's artwork and still do. It makes me sick though knowing the price of Hulk #181 has shot through the roof!

Right? Keep what you love.
I collect silver and bronze age horror and romance comics, mostly, and the romance in particular are quite valuable now (compared to what I paid, not including time spent digging through countless quarter sale bins), but they aren't for sale. At least, not yet. ;) Even some of my older Archies! (I know, I'm doing geek all wrong, but the old boys who ran the shops loved me and would save me some real gold back home.)
Point is, I collect them because I love them. Which is the right way to collect. Remember when people starting buying two issues of everything as it came out? Screwed with value so badly.

I just read "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay" which is about the golden age of comics (fiction). If you haven't read this yet, you may enjoy it.

bmw, that sounds awesome! I have no idea how I never heard of it? I worked in a book store for 5 years, starting around that time, and I was avidly reading and collecting at that time. Thanks for the tip, I've been looking for a book to read!

to think the original price was 10 cents…
now that's what I call ROI!

it's neat how the graphic style has evolved
through the years.
wasn't a fan of Superman,
but I did like Batman and Spiderman.
