Watching the news, it just seems to be getting worse and worse every day,

I don't really know what to make of it,

But what does it say about you if you burn and loot the place were you live, at the end of the day, that is your home your town your city.

I get it your pissed,

I remember watching a documentary on the L.A. riots, a black guy grew up there born and raised there, started a business out of nothing, hired black workers served the black community, but, had his place looted and burned to the ground.

I think its a sad comment on humanity perhaps a culture,

I remember the tsunami in Japan and the people calmly lined up in the stores for goods,

At the end of the day, your actions say more about you then what circumstance does to you.

very different circumstances, the tsunami was an act of nature,Ferguson was an act of human nature.

I agree with not understanding how burning down stores&looting from your own people is going to help anybody.

and roughed up the owner/storekeeper.no, he wasn't on his way home from church choir practice.

dunno what preceded the shooting....was the officer threatened?unarmed doesn't necessarily mean not dangerous.

There are lots of unanswered questions with this, and the stop/shooting was totally unrelated to the allegation of stealing cigars.
From what I have read, that is only an allegation at this stage with little evidence (other than a figure on a video) that he was actually the one stealing cigars.
His companion has already been released as he didn't commit any crime.

It seems like his crime (other than being the wrong colour) was he was walking down the middle of the road on his way to his grandmothers place, and when asked to go to the sidewalk said he would shortly because he was nearly at his destination. Six bullets when someone is walking/running away from you and then turns with their hands up sounds excessive, even by the standards of the US Wild West. It sounds like the officer simply 'lost it.'

And the looting and burning that has followed speaks of an underlying discontent and malaise. This isn't about the shooting of Michael Brown. This is about the alienation that is engulfing US society like a cancer, with the increasing income inequality and lack of opportunity all being part of that. I suspect there will be more incidences like this, leading up to a charismatic leader coming out to lead a revolution. Capitalism as we know it is not sustainable, particularly in the neo-liberal, greed-driven version we have been told we should accept.
Pinketty's book Capitalism makes for an interesting (albeit hefty) read.

Not everyone agrees with what's happening as a result of the shooting.

Nobody knows what really happened except the people that were there, but at this point nobody, black or white would dare come forward to contradict the "unarmed, with his hands up" party line.

If the cop felt threatened and the scene played out the way he claims, it will never be accepted or believed.

I just saw this news flash

A Grand Jury in Clayton, Missouri has not indicted Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown. Authorities are calling for calm in the wake of news likely to spur protest and violence.

It's amazing really using a shooting to loot and burn buildings\ businesses.

Thing that pisses me off is how this kid is pictured as squeaky clean. Now it's coming out that he just ripped off a cigar / liquor store
The forensic evidence points to Brown lunging into the car, and Wilson shooting from the seat of his car during their first initial interaction. Did anyone LISTEN to the evidence?

Congratulations to the jury members for finding the police officer innocent despite the overwhelming pressure to convict him. How pathetic it was however that several so called "witnesses" lied about the conduct of the officer. Thank God the criminal is dead and not the police officer doing a difficult and thankless job.

Lol! But hey, there are a lot of black kids around. So why riot over one more dead one? But how many times do the Canucks get a chance to win the cup? Isn't it 2 riots in 3 finals? As bad as the rioting in Ferguson may be, at least it is over an issue that is far larger than a hockey game.

True, the evidence also clearly shows that when these initial shots were fired Wilson pursued Brown in a chase and shot him an additional 6 TIMES (intent to kill), real POS in my books, officers have stun guns for a reason. Yes Brown was wrong for robbing a convenient store but losing his life for it is unjustifiable. Whatever, everyone is entitled to their own opinions... RIP Michael Brown

What kind of BS is that to post? Sounds like the typical "holier than thou" conservative point of view/attitude. Last I checked, solicitation wasn't exactly legal - but hey, I guess somehow in your mind, you're better than Michael Brown. So let's suppose a cop shoots and kills you while you're out paying for some ass; according to your logic, it'll be justifiable because you were in the act of committing a crime. And the same sentiment can be echoed, "Thank God the criminal is dead and not the police officer doing a difficult and thankless job."

A grand jury doesn't find for innocence, it decides whether or not charges should be brought.

Evidently shooting an unarmed kid in the street just isn't worth a trial.

Reading the eyewitness accounts in the newspaper I believe the grand jury did the right thing,

Most witnesses agreed with the cop's testimony more or less.

The only real damming witness was best friends of the dead guy and most likely involved in the robbery, what the hell is he going to say.

There really wasn't enough evidence to overturn what the cop said and most agreed with him..

Being the subject of complaints myself, you know something most people lie. And you sure as hell can't trust friends of the accused to tell the truth.

Sorry but the black people in Ferguson shit, should be realistic more realistic.

How many buildings were burnt to the ground last night and cars, what is the point,

I have been to St. Louis before.
St. Louis- Ford Pinto
Vancouver- BMW 7 series

Its not a place many people thrive to move to ever.
I have been to East St Louis before driving around seeing one of the worse ghettos in the USA. I was stopped by the police for driving up and down the street doing nothing illegal. I obeyed the guy and left. This was late at night and did not return to my social viewing of the ghettos.
