In your career as an SP you have no doubt had to deal with bad dates and/or stalkers. You may not be aware that all BC court records are available online to anyone with an internet connection. The address of the site is: http://eservice.ag.gov.bc.ca/cso/index.do
How to use this
Enter the site (you do not need a username or password
Read/close the disclaimer
You will now see a box called "E-Search"
Click on "Search Traffic and Criminal"
You will now see "Search Traffic and Criminal Buy"
Click on "Participant Name"
You may now search an individual based on their last name. In certain cases some information has a media ban. For example, recently a young male was accused of allegedly stalking and harassing a young teen girl. This teen girl later committed suicide. That young male has two charges before the court (Sexual Assault & Sexual Interference With a Minor). This case is now protected by a court ban therefore the name of the individual SPECIFIC to that case has been removed from the records.
Now, back to the topic. You can search the last name & include the first name. If you just search the last name of an individual you'll be given every court case with that person's name on it. If you do search the first name, you'll likely need to use the proper English name. For example, someone with the named "Bill" would be listed under his full birth name as "William".
One you find the person you're looking for, click on the view button. You can now see documents, participants, charges, appearances, sentences and releases. There are numerous codes which are used on this site. To alleviate any confusion, below is a link which outlines these codes. You will need Microsoft Excel to view this. If you do not have this, google Microsoft Excel Viewer and download. This allows you to view Excel spreadsheets but not make changes.
