I hope by now most of you have seen this, so I can rant a bit!

Man, was I disappointed. The Bond movies have always been fun to watch and they were a bit different from the average action flick, but this one was like watching one of the Bourne series. (I like Bourne, actually, but not in a James Bond flick)

I actually yawned twice. Take away all the fast action and the plot is melodramatic and, well, rather 'soap opera-ish'.

One fellow commented on the way out "it wasn't smart"..and I got his drift.

The Bond series was originally written with David Niven in mind. He was an actor who played the 'polished gentleman' and 'fashion dandy and womanizer'. The idea was that he would be so brilliant he could use his great brain to solve crimes.

Although I think Daniel Craig is a hawty of the highest order, and his attire was very posh (featured on Steven and Chris) there is not much evidence of the ole 'grey matter' being flung about in this show...and the bad guy was really kind of lame...

The one place in the movie where the entire audience gasped as one was when the garage opened and the classy old jaguar was revealed. I think that was the climax...the rest was nauseating drivel.

I have not seen the movie yet, but I did see a clip about the car, and some stories, it is an Aston Martin. I seem to remember a story about a special motor (I think a Jaguar Motor) that was put inside, but I am not sure if it was this last movie or the previous one...

here is Forbes story on it..

Too much Scotland, too much Mdme Dench,, NOT enough of the bondgirls. And I understand symbolism and all, but what was the point of the helicopter totally destroying both his original Aston, and the estate house?

craig is 44, he was made up to look burned out for the movie - remember the story?

i like the addition of ralph fiennes as control - that's got some potential

He's definitely an old 44. He always looks burned out...though he looked it even moreso for Skyfall.

I don't think I have watched a Bond film since Goldeneye - to be honest, the whole premise got really boring to me...

For me, this is the worse Daniel Craig 007 movie ever. And yes, NOT ENOUGH Bond Girls. Geez! DC got laid more in " Dragon Tattoo " than Bond. lol :) Pretty much as boring as " Octopussy ". Anyways, to each his own. ;)

Yeah, the only hawt woman got shot too soon in the movie...and not enough skin!

I hated the blowing up of that poor, sweet car, too! What a waste of good metal..everything is made of plastic today. (maybe it was just a wee kit car..you know, the kind people put together with glue)

The next worst movie is gonna be 'Reacher' the story of a very tall, big, sandy haired ex marine...to be played by Tom Cruise: pass! (I have read a lot of the books and I'm a big fan of the 'Reacher' series; what the hell were they thinking? Tom Cruise? Laughable.)

Here and There
I really like Craig as Bond, Casino Royal was great and I liked Skyfall better than Solace. I dont know, Pierce as Bond was killing it for me (way too campy) and I probably would have lost interest if they had of kept going that way.

Probably helped that I watched Skyfall on my computer and could get up every half hour or so, might have been different if I was in a theatre and had to sit through it all in one shot - but I have trouble sitting through any entire movie in the theatre regardless of how good it is.

and when in doubt.....it's an Aston

i wouldnt bother shelling out 12.50 or whatever you'll be paying. Go to the cheap theatre or download it online free. Almost fell asleep a few times

Thank you! I was beginning to think I was going crazy. People are going ga-ga over the newest Bond film and the last Batman too, and I'm like... really? I'm a Bond fan, but I'm really not a fan of latest Daniel Craig Bond films. They are far too serious. I'm not against Daniel Craig as Bond, or a female M or a young Q, but I just don't like the edgy gritty direction. I haven't seen the latest one, but of all the previous Daniel Craig Bond films I can't recall a single memorable moment, so I figure why bother. The last Bond film I really enjoyed was Goldeneye. As for Nolan's Batman series, I loved the first one, the second one I love purely because of the Joker, and the last one I thought was lame.

This is a surprising read for me - I actually loved this take on Bond, because it brought more of the character to the surface than previous movies. It may have had something to do with my own issues with getting older but the plot resonated with me pretty well, and overall I really enjoyed it. (Considering I watched it a day or two after a disappointing breakup, that was not easy to do!)

I've heard people love and hate this movie. I personally loved Skyfall. Yes, it was long, and at times uneventful, but the plot moved along. Compared to the previous Bond films, this one tops the chart.

I leaned over to my friend and said, "keep the change you filthy animal" when the anonymous henchmen started dying in the Skyfall manor.

The bond girl who had a whole three scenes was so emotionally weak and compromised that I actually felt like Bond was, for the first time, a disgusting predator.

And really, a flashlight in the field. Did the head of MI6 never play hide-and-seek, see LOTR, have any common sense?

Lastly there were so many plot holes it was almost ironic. All the work for Javier to blow up the old MI6, force MI6 into a basement, lure Bond to Macau, get captured, upload a virus which turned out to be a map of his route (that's what you'd pick as your virus file?), all so he could talk to M. He brought more men to Skyfall than he did to the inquiry which from the beginning was his whole point to the thing. Well, I could go on and on.

Didn't like it.

To each his own I guess. I enjoyed it, thought it was a bit of a new approach/direction for the series that gave it a modern day edge. Stayed wide awake the whole time and didn't notice how long it was unlike Cloud Atlas.

I had someone say this to me about not being a real star wars fan. Unless you cheer or love anything they put out. Then youre not a real fan. Then there are those christians bible thumpers who say youre not a real christian cause you dont see what's written in the bible the same way as we do.

You aren't bond fans, we get it. For those who are, the movie was quite good, far better than the last effort and anything that Pierce Brosnan or Tim Dalton did.
