I hope by now most of you have seen this, so I can rant a bit!
Man, was I disappointed. The Bond movies have always been fun to watch and they were a bit different from the average action flick, but this one was like watching one of the Bourne series. (I like Bourne, actually, but not in a James Bond flick)
I actually yawned twice. Take away all the fast action and the plot is melodramatic and, well, rather 'soap opera-ish'.
One fellow commented on the way out "it wasn't smart"..and I got his drift.
The Bond series was originally written with David Niven in mind. He was an actor who played the 'polished gentleman' and 'fashion dandy and womanizer'. The idea was that he would be so brilliant he could use his great brain to solve crimes.
Although I think Daniel Craig is a hawty of the highest order, and his attire was very posh (featured on Steven and Chris) there is not much evidence of the ole 'grey matter' being flung about in this show...and the bad guy was really kind of lame...
The one place in the movie where the entire audience gasped as one was when the garage opened and the classy old jaguar was revealed. I think that was the climax...the rest was nauseating drivel.
