If you or some one is injured . Yes

If there is damage over $1200 and happens very easily Parts and labor are expensive

If ther eis a claim being made it is pest to get the police there to deter-mound fault because it effects the premiums you pay

Or are you asking about if you can help before the police a rive ?

If you know what you are doing .. . and your actions can help ..

There are many thing that you should not do . like moving an injured or unconsciousness person unless it is really necessary to save there life ... evaluate the situation and see if there are other dangers , see who needs help or attention . Apply pressure to wounds , give CPR if you know how and it is needed .. Direct traffic and ask others to help

I would call 911 in all cases and let it be on record that they do not want to dispatch anyone.

Of course make everyone is safe and call for help if they need it.

Take lots and lots and lots of pictures if you think you are not at fault. Those have saved my ass on god knows how many occasions and are the reason I still have the max discount with a couple of free accidents (at fault) without any impact to my premiums.

Exchange contact info with other driver and do your due diligence in making sure its actually them on the driver's license and not someone that looks like them.

if the accident is not hindering traffic the police will not be sent. found that out when some idiot turned left on my green. managed to get both vehicles to the side of road before they died. called and the first question they asked was, is traffic blocked. when i said no, they said no cops, just call dial a claim and they will do everything including sending the tow truck.
