I'm looking for a break from life for a few days and decided a trip to the coast was what I need. I'm looking for suggestions on a place to stay where I can enjoy some surf action (I want to watch the waves, not ride them ... it's Winter!). Someplace moderately priced, decent view preferably right on the ocean, fireplace, maybe a balcony. Someplace I can watch the surf on the shore and retreat back inside to sit by the fire. Unfortunately, I will be traveling solo so not much need for a jacuzzi/hot tub. I'm pretty well open to anything from Northern Oregon to Vancouver Island. Any thoughts?

Vancouver & Tofino
Tofino on the island of course. Do you plan on surfing? They have lessons too. Or Parksville. But Tofino is where I would go. Beautiful!
What Angie said,i grew up there.Beautiful & mild this time of year:thumb:
As a part time resident of Tofino, I couldn't agree more albeit it's been a little over a year since I've been able to make the time to go back.

Check on-line... tofinovr.com (tofino vacation rentals) or through Accommodations BC.
I've stayed at a variety of places this company manages before making Tofino my permanent get-away home. They have everything from condos to cabins to executive homes for rent. IMHO, the Fred Tibbs complex right on the harbour front and half a block away from town is ideal for the first time visitor. It's moderately priced between $150 and $200 per night depending on the season. I use to rent a third floor suite (top floor Loft suite) as it was very spacious for two persons. Most of the lofts can accommodate 6. You can then cycle or drive (7 minute slow drive) to Chesterman's Beach where the world famous Wickaninnish Inn sits on. It's a great long oceanside beach walk with very few people during the off season months. It's very Zen to say the least.

That is just one option. Regardless of your choice, happy safe travels.

There are some new development in Uclet on the water .. maybe check them out on line ..

And then there is Sooke .. They have a new resort hotel on the water also .. .... But I would say Tafino is the best .. I have only been there once .. about 6 yrs ago .. .
I stayed a a log cabin at a place called Cristal cove ... There are some in the forest and others on the water ..

I have stayed at a variety of places when I visited Tofino. By far, this place was great for what I wanted. Away from it all, right on a huge sandy beach, storm season provided plenty of huge waves, great food, etc etc etc.

I note that they have a few deals on now which makes me think of taking off sooner than later.
