I'm the kinda guy who doesn't really like to shop for clothes. I'm usually the type of person who goes in, gets what he needs and gets out. However in the last year I been having trouble shopping for one particular item. Jeans

I use to just buy any run of the mill pair of jeans and it is usually fine. But this was me 1.5 years ago. Since then I lost a bunch of weight and shed about 4 or 5 inches around my waist. The problem that I am having now with jeans is that my waist is smaller. However, due to heavy squat lifting and all the intensive gym training I've been doing my quads are huge.

I would wear size 29 jeans with the waist being loose, but it would be ultra tight around my thighs. I'm really at a lost of what fit for jeans I should get. I'd listen to the people at the store and the jeans would last me 3 months or so and the tightness around my thighs get a bit too unbearable I can never fully break into my jeans.

So I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions of brands or fits I should be wearing for jeans?

- Not wearing jeans is not an option. Going out with girls in sweatpants is not sexy

State of confusion
A better question to have asked is: What menswear shop that sells jeans has hot young female sales clerks I can ask to help me find the denim trousers that best fit my body?

I can never find jeans that fit me either.
I usuall y buy jeans that fit my bum and thighs and then have a tailor take in the waist - find a good tailor though cause if its done wrong it can look terrible.

What kind of jeans are you trying and what is your price point? I have always preferred Straight leg jeans those might help a bit, maybe even one size up and get a nice belt

not that this is going to help you much.
But there used to be a running back on the
Dallas Cowboys (Emmitt Smith) whose thighs
were larger than his waist. I didn't think that
was possible. He had to get his pants custom
made.

I usually only wear straight leg jeans. Slim fit, doesn't go well on me

That might work. I'll keep that in mind when I buy my next pair in the coming weeks

if you're in vancouver, check out dutil in gastown

Those jeans are more than I would like to spend on jeans. Unless they have crazy durability

Try Moores Clothing for Men. I've heard from many guys that their jeans are some of the most comfortable, and all their clothing is good quality. They also have a pretty good size selection and great customer service (I've seen cute girls in there from time to time also ;) ) Good luck!

LOL.. no doubt dear god that's unreal. Does the jeans model come home with you for the night? Maybe that's why ?;)
Umm do people actually pay that much for jeans?

They must come with a built in fist, cause you sure are getting fucked when you pay that much.

I don't know about you, but I sure wouldn't want to take home the dude modelling my size jeans, my car couldn't carry the weight.
Now if I could find 2 ladies (one for each pant leg) now we're talking :)

Oh and ladies, hate to be the bearer of bad news, but guys don't notice your butt became of the 300 dollar jeans....we notice your butt, because you have a nice butt.... and arent watching us admire your butt.

Actually, take off the $300 jeans and put on an $10 pair of sweats, and you'll still have my attention.

E - stay away from the straight fit then. Go for relaxed or even the loose fit from Levi's

Depending on your budget - you can find a good selection at Hills (Kerrisdale) and they usually have stuff on sale there too.

If you ever get a chance to go to Seattle - Nordstrom Rack has most of the designer stuff (Joe Jeans, Diesel, 7 for all Mankind, True Religion) anywhere from $69 to $99

Stay away from places like Brooklyn which tend to carry a lot of the slim fit ones.

Staccato in Kits has a sale on - you might try there and I think Mark James might still have their 50% sale - not sure.

Have you considered khakis or dress pants? Seems like a lot of fuss about blue canvas pants. I generally wear khakis for casual occasions as jeans are fairly uncomfortable in comparison. I try to keep a couple of pairs of jeans around for rough work.

I recently bought a couple pairs of GWG's for $15.00 each at the bargain store. Picked them up a hair too big, washed them in hot water, put them on wet & wore them until they dried. The tight parts stretch a bit, the loose spots shrink a bit. They're just canvas pants.
I haven't worn khakis in years. I do own a few pair of dress pants from Mexx. Those are comfy, though too overdress for day to day.

I'm in my mid twenties and I tend not to dress up at all when I'm outside of work. But it's a thought worth looking into.

Yeah I've been meaning to go down there and get jeans. I'm not a big fan of the super popular brands of jean though. It seems overplayed. If I do find a good pair might try getting the waist taken in when I get back home.

All I gotta say is that losing weight and getting fit is tough when your body isn't properly proportioned ha ha ha

The prices on those jeans are not that high. It's called designer denim. The difference between these and $40 jeans you get at Zellers is that higher end jeans will last for a longggg time. Cheap jeans will wear out within a year. Also, higher end denim looks, and feels far more superior than the cheap stuff. They are fashionable, and when paired with the right sneaks, top, jacket, etc... you look stylish, rather than looking like a guy with no fashion sense while rocking a pair of Wranglers.

7 Jeans, William Rast, Diesel, True Religion, are just some of the higher end brands. Mid level jeans can be good too, Guess Jeans, etc...

As for style, normally I would suggest a slimmer cut or a straight leg with a smaller ankle... Boot cuts are nice too, although the trend for men right now is a smaller, straighter bottom. Since you have bigger thighs, you might want to consider a relaxed fit, or like relaxed straight, where the jeans dont look too baggy. Check out these 7's as an example, they look good, and feel good too:

veryveronica beat me to it but Dutil in Gastown for sure, and the two girls who run it are cute too.

Avoid things like Lucky, Buffalo, Ed Hardy, and anything bedazzled or stitch too much unless of course you are a Douchebag. Stick to Naked and Famous, Edwin, Levi 501s, APC or even the Gap Salvege.

BTW skinny isn't in nor is anything like relaxed, boot, natural or baggy. It's a fit like 501s that everyone should be looking for. Also it's cool now to do a little self cuff on the bottom of your jeans or Khakis.

I have a pair of 514s on right now. With boat shoes though. BTW those look like boots.
