Hi everybody,

I'm going to be in Winnipeg for the first time next week. Just looking for some good places to do some dining (and I do mean food) although I'm not averse to the other thing either).

Other than the usual spots recommended for tourists, any local spots that I should try out? Not too picky about the type of food, just needs to be tasty.

I'll be stopping by such places as Selkirk, Steinbach, and the Pas. Any recommendations for those places?

Thanks for all your help.

There's a ton of good places to eat in Winnipeg, but it would be helpful to know what type of food and price range you are looking for.

Ukrainian?
Deli?
Chinese?
Italian?
Steak?
Seafood?
Greek?
Japanese?
French?
Australian? (consists mostly of beer I think)
The list goes on

Under $20?
$20 to $50?
$50 to $100?
no limit?

Let us know and I'm sure we could all recommend 2 or 3 for you.

I miss Winterpeg. All I remember about Winnipeg during my stay was the number of casinos they had.

Sorry for not being more specific. Had a brain cramp.....

Let's go with Italian, Chinese, Japanese, steak and seafood would be good too.

Since this is a business trip, it's going to be on the company tab. So nothing too outrageous. Anything in the $50 to $75 range should keep my boss happy.

Here, and not there!!
Ahhhhh........SKIP WPG....take a beautifull 2 1/2 hour drive to Lake of the Woods, Kenora, or Miaki. Ask my Grandma and Grandpa to take you out on the lake for some Pickrel fishing. Bring it back to the cabin, filet and fry it up in some Beer Batter. That IS the BEST place to eat....Fresh Pickrel, straight out of the beautiful, pristine water of Trout Lake, and into the pan, over the fire pit, and into YOUR belly!!
Nothing else like it.
I DO NOT like fish...fresh water or Sea food; but Pickrel (or Trout) fresh out of the lake ..... YUM!!
None of that restaurant, or Grocery store fish, frozen and kept for days(weeks?) and made up for you in ordinary ways....
It just really is NOT the same. Fresh does taste different!!
Other than that, you have the ordinary....the same restaurants all cities have. McDonalds.....Wendy's....BP's....Red Lobster.....Italian this....French that....Greek Here.....Asian there...etc.
I miss home.......
