uh...Edmonton.
I am about to fuck up the warm weather. I know I have this power....early in May I removed my studded bicycle tires....a mid May snowstorm resulted within two days. It was brutal navigating without them.

Off the topic slightly, I have returned from doing my "single" call at Victoria golf course downtown. It was a really cool drive down there....downhill all the way after I cleared the rim. There is a cool bike path that shadows Groat Road.

I pay my $27.00 for nine....inquire as to the availability of being paired up...she indicates...you can follow that group of two out there right away on number ten. I inquire as to whether I might have time to bash off a small bucket as it is the first round of the season...she replies..."well, if you want to take that chance...but the "ladies" will be soon coming around the turn for the back nine". Good advice, I demurred and scooped up a card and pencil (oddly enough, the pencils they provide have erasers....tsk tsk). I unwind my putter, 6 iron, and sand wedge from the bike and wander down to the 10th tee with 5 balls stuffed into my pocket.

Long story short, it was perfect. I played solo behind the two old guys (like I'm not) and took the liberty of playing an additional shot if the first one was not to my satisfaction. I likely got 27 holes in all told. I concentrated on gripping the club as lightly as possible and swinging with Els like rhythym. I shot -1 for the nine...albeit basically a "best ball" situation. My zune player was working well and (to contribute to a favourite thread....what's your favourite song...."this charming man"...by "Stars"....was playing when I got my one and only birdie).

Even the ride home was good....i.e....UP the fucking hill that was so nice to descend. I was briefly worried that I would end up pushing the bike up the hill...but the grade was sufficiently slight to permit me to pedal it out.

Back to the point, the weather. I just wheeled my portable air conditioner up to my bedroom window and set up that bizarre cluster of intake/output hosing....and switched it on. While my bedroom is now delightfully set at 21 degrees, I fear I have likely messed up the whole outside deal. Sort of the "omg, I don't want to hope for them because when I do, they lose" sort of deal.

Sorry Edmonton, cooler weather is on the way I'm sure. But, it's delightful today.

cheers,
