"Conventional vacuum cleaners rely on bags or filters to trap dirt, which can become clogged, reducing suction. A Dyson vacuum cleaner doesn’t rely on bags or filters. Instead, advanced Root Cyclone™ technology removes dirt and dust from the air with no loss of suction.

The Dyson DC17 uses Level 3 Root Cyclone™ technology. It spins air through 3 stages of cyclones, separating dirt and dust from the air and literally flinging it into the bin. Massive centrifugal forces of up to 150,000 g (150,000 turns per minute) are generated so that even microscopic dirt, such as bacteria and mould spores, is captured.

It’s the world’s most efficient cyclone technology."

Used Cars and Vacuum Cleaners

Why do vacuum cleaner salesmen come up with the worst garbage?
"150,000 g (150,000 turns per minute) are generated " ??????

Speaking as someone who owns a Dyson, I can say that it is the only vaccum brand I will ever buy again.

With that being said, however, your used one should go for less than just a hair below retail, tax excluded.

Speaking as some one who fixes vacuums for a living, you couldn't pay me to take a Dyson vacuum! They are made of plastic, except for the motor. While you can repair motors on other vacuums, the Dyson motor has to be replaced. If you want a good vacuum that will last for years, stay far away from Dyson or any of these other "plastic" vacuums. I would reccomend Miricle Mate, Tristar, Filter Queen or an older Electrolux. We see examples of these machines all the time that last 40 years or more. The only Dyson you will find in 40 years will be in a landfill!!

for what it's worth

I just checked a website in the US called facorydirect.com and they have that model for $399.99 no taxes and free shipping. They also throw in a free accessory kit worth $112.00.
Now there is the pain in the ass of getting one up through the border, but it can be done on a new purchase and have warranty from a new bought unit. Just sayin, I need to correct something, this is for a all floors unit, the animal unit was unavailable from that website.

Tsk. Tsk.

I am also a Dyson owner, formally an electrolux owner. Let's clear some things up. My Electrolux was THE BOMB!!!!

Sadly, apparently after 30 years of service (I got it from my parents) when it came to buying the one I wanted with the attachments I needed. I decided that after 10-15 years when my Dyson dies (if it does. seems to be going strong for 4 years so far), I can afford to buy another one. Since it costs the same to buy 1 Electrolux as it does for 2 Dysons.

Also have a Dyson, and love it. Even if it only lasts half as long as others, the dirt it pulls up makes it worth it.
