It was an exciting series, but it was not Vancouver's year. I wish all the best to the Flames and their fans.

Do Canada proud and thump San Jose...............Kev

Good Game, but Van wasn't as good and it seemed to me they did not want it as muc.h, even with the last second goal in the 3rd period.

That's my thoughts.

As a old Cubs fan, there is always next year.

hard work and physical play beats talent!!

well done flames
An interesting post.

Calgary Flames have no talent? Or is it the Canucks can't play physical? What a shit for brains post. Welcome to the "you don't know jackshit about hockey Dr. Strangelove."

The game i watched showed extreme talent by the Flames. Iginla, Clark, Kiprusoff, and the rest of the Flames.

Physical play with the Canucks that was questionable? .................HELLO...........Keane, May, Cooke,...........................sheesh why do i bother? --- Kev

Sorry Canuck fans but I just gotta.....

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!

I think you all would agree that Calgary as a team played with a lot more heart and determination than the Canucks (exception would be Morrison). We just wanted it more thats all.

Anyone check out WWE's Monday Nite RAW!!!! Flames definately have all of Calgary behind them....

Better luck next year Canuck fans...

JackFrost,

Think thats frustrating...... try missing the playoffs for 7 straight seasons...

Even if the Flames lost in game 7.... Calgary still won... look at the fan support.

3 cheers for both teams as it was some of the best hockey I've seen in a long while.

Wings in 4.... don't think so, Calgarys played well against Detroit.

I agree with JackFrost on this one, Calgary's win ended any chance of a Canadian team advancing past the second round in the west. Vancouver would have had a much better chance against San Jose than Calgary is going to have against Detroit.

Even a healthy Calgary team would have had trouble matching up against the talent, depth, and experience of Detroit. Unfortunately for Calgary they aren't a healthy team and this series has taken alot out of them. Realistically they aren't going to last long against Detroit. A Wings sweep is a definate possibility.

If Kiprusoff stands on his head and plays unbelievably he may steal a game for Calgary but I'd be suprised if this series goes 6 games.

I thought the same things last year about Anaheim. I think Calgary has an excellent chance at beating Detroit. Sure on paper it's a sweep, but Detroit is an old team with an un-proven playoff goaltender. When Calgary gets some of their players back... look out. They are a fast, physical team that grinds and works hard. And like Anaheim last year they've got a hot goaltender

It seems as though there is an upset team every year in the playoffs that go far and I'm hoping Calgary's it and yes I am a Canucks fan. Here's hoping for a rematch of '89!

Kiprusoff has played well but he hasn't been outstanding. He hasn't played as well as Giguere did last year and he isn't even the best goaltender in the playoffs this year.

Since the series went 7 games Calgary doesn't have the luxury of time to heal before facing Detroit. Of the 3 Canadian teams that will make it to the second round I'm sorry to say Calgary is the longest shot to make it to the third round. I hate big spending teams like Detroit and would love to see them get their butts kicked by a small market Canadian club like Calgary, I just don't think it is very realistic.

I have followed the Canucks faithfully over the past three seasons and I don't think the Canucks were as good this year as they were last year. They started their slide back in November.

This year they didn't have the same offensive capabilities. Credit to their defensive game which improved dramatically. Power play sucked this year, how many times did I cringe as they ended another unsuccessful powerplay to give up a scoring chance or a goal.

How many games did they just not finish and managed to win in overtime?

Outstanding come back in the final 6 games to take the division. I had given up hope.

Not the elite team in the Calgary series. Calgary outworked us most of the time.

Did Calgary win, or did we lose? I think Calgary played to the best of their ability and we didn't...thus we lost.

Well done Calgary. IMHO the winner of this series was the better team and when it comes down to one game, one goal to decide a series, you can't say that Vancouver would have gone farther because of talent or effort.

Regardless of whether we'd won this round or not, I find it unlikely that we would have beaten Detroit, San Jose or Colorado either.

That said...I didn't expect us to tie the game to force overtime either.

I don't think that a sweep by Detroit is a sure thing by any means. Nashville defeated them twice with a team that is much smaller than Calgary's.

Calgary has a young team with a defense that is much better than anyone gives them credit for. They are also riding a high and have arguably the best player in the NHL right now -- Iginla.

Detroit and Calgary are even in goal. Neither Joeseph or Legace have player better than Kiprusoff and I'm not sure the aging Detroit fowards will hold up to the high tempo banging and crashing that was evident in every game of the Vancouver Calgary series -- one that I think was, even though not a fan of either team -- one of the best series in the last couple of years.

Detroit certainly is favoured but I think Calgary will give them a better game than this years version of the Vancouver Canucks.

Well the Flames have done it again!

Anybody for some crow? (and I don't mean Marc Crawford)

:p :D

C'mon you Canucks fans, let's jump on the Flames bandwagon and cheer them on to the cup!

Keep the Stanley Cup in Canada!

Think there'll be a Toronto-Calgary final? I hope so, not least because it will provoke Gary Bettman into committing hari-kari.
