I have followed the Canucks faithfully over the past three seasons and I don't think the Canucks were as good this year as they were last year. They started their slide back in November.
This year they didn't have the same offensive capabilities. Credit to their defensive game which improved dramatically. Power play sucked this year, how many times did I cringe as they ended another unsuccessful powerplay to give up a scoring chance or a goal.
How many games did they just not finish and managed to win in overtime?
Outstanding come back in the final 6 games to take the division. I had given up hope.
Not the elite team in the Calgary series. Calgary outworked us most of the time.
Did Calgary win, or did we lose? I think Calgary played to the best of their ability and we didn't...thus we lost.
Well done Calgary. IMHO the winner of this series was the better team and when it comes down to one game, one goal to decide a series, you can't say that Vancouver would have gone farther because of talent or effort.
Regardless of whether we'd won this round or not, I find it unlikely that we would have beaten Detroit, San Jose or Colorado either.
That said...I didn't expect us to tie the game to force overtime either.
