....or how about just giving them away so we'd get at least something for them? Even a 5th rounder would be nice, eh? :D lol...

look at the price Montreal gave up for Schneider but they were bargaining from weakness. No different here in Nuckville; teams will be low-balling poor Gillis.

c'mon, we don't know if they're going to be able to re-sign these Swiss Cheese Swedes before they mould and what not, but Gillis sure better be confident to re-sign these perennial losers.

I'm with BJ Hunter. The Canucks, from a hockey operations standpoint, are a disgrace of a franchise. That being said, they will probably make the playoffs as the 5 or 6 seed. Trading the Sedins isn't very likely, in fact, its doubtful the Canucks will trade at all, with the exception of a depth-type player. Ohlund is the only significant player that may get dealt, but he would have to waive his no-trade clause and will only do so if he goes to a contender. Either way, Gillis is in a virtual no-win situation, trade or not. The Canucks could will probably play either Chicago or Calgary and no matter who they have or how well they play, they could still lose. Even if they make a sound hockey move and if they do lose, Canuck fans (as stupid as they are) will call it a bad move, only because they didn't win.

Yea I do agree they won't win the stanley cup this year but I have a good feeling they will next year or come very very very close. I'm pretty sure they will loose Ohlund only because Gillis won't sign him because Ohlund wants a long term contract. Like wtf accept it!. If canucks don't sign him this will be the worst thing Gillis has done to the Canucks.

Overall I still have hope for them:p.

Oh, and by the way, two goals in like tweny eight seconds!!! how many teams can do that :p?

personally i'm ok with ohlund leaving. he's a solid blue liner, but his offence isn't that great.

i'd trade him for something good rather then let him walk away in the off season... which he will. no way he's going to a west team or a top seed in the east. so send him somewhere warm and he'll wave his no trade clause.

i think gillis will sign the sedins. and good move by the gm to lock up burrows for the next 4 years.

So Hubba, you know I'm not the only one who thinks this franchise is a disgrace? ;)

but not as disgusting or disgraceful as those yellow jerseys, lol

They will be re-signed for around the $5.5 mark each for 3-4 years. Considering whats out there they're good value considering that they're both 50-60 point players.

Ohlund might waive his no trade clause and it would be sad to see him go but I dont think they'll be able to make the numbers work for him. I'm sure he'll get signed somewhere for around $6-6.5 short term.

Canucks win and BJhunter makes a post. Not your usual slaying of Canuck fans though, are you slipping?

I like the idea of getting rid of the old guard. Naslund and Morrison were not resigned, Linden retired but there are a few still hanging around. Ohlund should be the next one to go. Some team is going to overpay him when he becomes a free agent July 1st. If he didn't have a no trade clause then I think Gillis would trade him today.

Next one should be Salo. Again no trade clause so hopefully he gets hurt so bad that he has to retire. It might sound mean but he is signed thru till 2010 so two more injury prone seasons and a shot that has the safety on.

And I agree with BJhunter about the Sedins. Why handcuff your team under the salary cap with two players making 12-14 million a year and a no trade clause. Don't trade the Sedins today. Give them a chance to prove that they are not just regular season players and can perform in the playoffs. If not make a trade before July 1st and they become free agents. How about make a splash at the NHL draft.

Too bad Mike Milbury isn't Islanders GM anymore, would be nice to get the 1st pick overall from them.

With the way Naslund and Morrison are performing this year, It's a good thing we didn't resign them.
Big Bert tho, is having a pretty decent year for what Calgary is paying him.

What's your definition of a disgrace? Throwing out generalities and emotional comments about disliking the Canucks is one thing but how about offering some concdrete solutions to the problems that you think exist.

Being a critic is easy - very easy. Coming up with workable solutions to problems is much more difficult.

The Sedins don't have a no trade clause... at least not one that specifies that they come in a package deal. The canucks could easily trade away one and not the other, if they so choose. Actually, that was one the news just last week.

Not all, when it comes to shoving criticisms up the Nuckleheads' A-holes, it's pedal to the metal ;)

Totally agree w/ these Swiss Sedins; why do we have to put up w/ this 'third player' to connect with them? It's been like this all career with these non-playoff performers, this team shouldn't be built around 2 players (unless it's Gretzky/Kurri, Lemieux/Jagr), it's a waste of friggin' $$$.

if you really want trade someone, trade luongo. A trade like that would help our team much more than any other player on the team. We don't *need* a luongo. We need a goalie that can do a good percentage of what he does.

Improve the team, and you just need a goalie like a scott clemenson / craig anderson ... or luck out with a steve mason.... they're around, it's unbelievable the number of goalies just looking for a break.

...that I totally agree with!!!

Someone who's brave, like me, to go out and suggest this as well. If we can trade an "A" asset to get 2 "B" assets, this will be a better Nucks team.

With the Nucks' crappy drafting or giving away draft picks (in Nonis' Needless tenure, this stupid burnaby moron gave away 7 draft picks in 3 trade deadlines, which resulted in NOTHING on the current roster), this woulda been the ballsy thing for Gillis to do.

but he's a rookie, what do ya expect?

Your geography is as good as your hockey. Sweden and Switzerland are two different countries. People that come from Sweden are called Swedes and those from Switzerland are Swiss

I dont get the lets get rid of a great goalie mentality and get two mediocre players for him. Any teams that has done anything in the playoffs has had to rely on an A goalie. Whats two players are out there for $3 mill that would be worth getting rid of the sharpest goal in the entire league for? I'm sure you were criticizing the Canucks back in the days of Cloutier, Potvin, Weekes and saying what a poorly managed organization that can't find and keep a decent goalie.

dude, you're the first sucker so far to fall for it; ever heard of sarcasm? it's plenty here ;) Swiss cheese, Swedish cheese, they're both soft, aren't they? I'm referring to the Sedins lol...i wish i can say that about Sundin, but he actually can play a physical game...

And who said 'mediocre' players in return? i'm sure u were being sarcastic ;) but my point is that the canucks top 6 are pretty bare, b/c of their lousy drafting and all..just keepin mind that no one's complaining NOW b/c of their winning streak, but back in Jan., weren't ppl complaining about their top 2 lines? lol...amazing what a few wins can do....

Sure, goaltending is key, but look at well Columbus, New Jersey, etc. have done well w/o their #1 goalie...just saying that LUnongo can sure bring in a few good roster players plus a draft pick, and still save a few bucks ;)

What do you think we could get for BJH if we traded him to the other site?
I'm willing to go with futures to get him off the books :p
Trade him? Who would take him? BJHunter has zero trade value. He's the Sean Avery of this board.
