@the Meat Market!!!lol
a woman from CBC's the current is wanting to humanize pooners, it will be confidential as it's on radio, any takers?

i know it's alot to ask, but i'm so tired of this being seen as a women's issue and would love it if one of you would be willing....i could promise gratuitous favours?LOL

love susie>

thank-you Susan...I managed to call Chris Friday night, we had a wonderful, long chat..he's putting the word out for me.
> Yes I am on a deadline...how I envision this story...a sympathetic, kind look at the two people in the sex trade.
> the worker- you and the buyer. Two people who are consentual and WANT to do this. We are looking at taboo subjects in a favourable manner- like we talked about. what I need to know. are you willing to openly talk with me. Me going to your house we talk, like friends- which I'm sure we'll become. I do radio documentaries and as you know. I don;t want to do a straight up interview with you. I need to set the stage and humanize you--a woman who does what she loves.
> I have a question. If, I can't get a buyer, is there someone on your end who is willing to talk to me...someone who is eloquent such as you and breaks society's notions of what and who a john is...anonymity is completely promised, so is compassion...
> what are your thoughts? I can pitch my story now, get all the tape and info I need and go to Toronto, and yes, I could interview you again.

i have responded that she may come over to my home to interview and if any of you guys want to do it, you could come here also ensuring your total anonymity....

I just want to applaud your efforts with this!

While I would love to represent myself in print or the like this way, I could never dare to risk being on the radio.

I'm still going to sit back and really hope that you are successful in inspiring someone whose voice blends in with society to help you out in this endeavor.

Such an inspirational opportunity to know a little bit of your vulnerability beyond that which you share with clients.

I encourage you to keep believing that you will find perfectly willing, and eventually ideal male volunteers who will dare to risk being on the radio.

Thanks on behalf of all of us who could use a more human voice in mainstream society.

I think this is a great idea in theory- however, I'm feeling slightly uneasy about the whole thing- the reporter's repeated use of words like "compassion" and "sympathy" make me wonder if she's looking to frame the client as someone who's so ugly/lonely/desperate/whatever that he's driven/forced to see sex workers.

Honestly, clients are so varied, I don't even know how a picture could be painted with just one client's story.

I'm just reacting a little defensively here, because I would say that the large majority of my clients don't need anyone's "compassion" or "sympathy". Many of the gentlemen I see are lawyers, doctors, stock brokers, working in the technology/information sector, academics, and so on- if anything, people should be jealous of them, not sympathetic toward them, lol.

However, I do tend to be very protective of the ladies and guys involved in this industry, so perhaps I'm reading things in between the lines that aren't really there..

On behalf of those with more to lose than I do, we don't need sympathy (that's in the dictionary between shit and syphilis)
What we NEED is privacy. As the song goes. Why don't you mind your own business, 'cause if you're minding YOUR business then you sure won't be minding mine. (Stevie Goodman RIP)
